A single-vineyard expression of the ELLMAN Estate Vineyard in Napa Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon at its core, complemented by Cabernet Franc from a small hillside planting on the western edge of the property. Rooted in the distinct soils of the estate and shaped by vines planted in 1999 and 2018, Jemma captures the character of this place with depth, lift, and remarkable precision. Crafted by winemaker Andy Erickson.

A proprietary blend crafted each year to capture the best of what the vintage has to offer from vineyards that represent Napa Valley. The 2023 blend brings together Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, balancing generosity and structure with a layered, polished character. An expression of Napa Valley through the ELLMAN lens, made to be enjoyed now and to evolve beautifully with time. Crafted by winemaker Andy Erickson.

The ELLMAN Brothers Blend is meant to be accessible to a wider audience, showcasing our winemaking style in a wine with softer texture, ready to enjoy on a wine list or at your local retailer.Â
Our grapes are harvested at night, carefully sorted, then fermented gently at a low temperature to extract just the right amount of tannin, while preserving the fresh fruit character. 2023 will surely become known as a classic vintage, with cool temperatures and long hang time. The resulting wines are packed with color, structure and flavor. The Brothers’ Blend shows juicy, mouthwatering fruit character—black cherry, raspberry, baked blueberry—along with subtle baking spices that linger on the finish. This blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Merlot is as delicious as it sounds, balanced but hedonistic. It is meant to be enjoyed right now but will age easily in bottle for ten or more years.

On the western edge of our Estate vineyard, there is a small hillside planting on decomposing white volcanic rock. We planted Cabernet Franc because we love the complexity and exotic aromatic profile, and because we appreciate that it is very well suited to our Napa Valley climate. This Cabernet Franc is the star of our “Jemma” cuvée, the sister wine to The Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2023 brought forward the varietal purity in high definition, and this shows in the wine.
Even at a moderate percentage—the 2023 is 21% Cabernet Franc—this variety adds a very alluring element to the wine. Moroccan market spices rise from the glass: cardamom, cumin, licorice, along with notes of dried flowers and sage. On the palate, the intensity of the Cabernet Sauvignon takes over. The wine is bold and expansive, with a rush of intense black fruits framed by the exotic spice mix. This is a multi-layered offering; one wants to return to the glass to take in the aromas over and over again.
Jemma is a wine very specific to our estate vineyard, and we feel it captures the spirit of the land on which the grapes grow. Like The Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine will age for two to three decades for sure.
